One out of every three blind people in the world lives in India - an estimated 15 million Indians are blind with an additional 52 million visually impaired. Every year, 3 million Indians develop cataracts which gradually lead to blindness if left untreated. There are also 2 million blind children in India. Only 5% of them receive any education.A staggering 80% of these cases are curable if diagnosed and treated early and if adequate facilities and trained staff are available.
